Posting all those international recipes doesn’t mean that I am not a BIG BIG fan of our traditional Egyptian food.

You name it; stuffed vine leaves, stuffed eggplants, beef stew, molokheya … I just love all those dishes that not only taste amazing but also bring back so many childhood memories that I always long to.

I grew up eating a very unique kind of Roz M3ammar; actually you can never call it M3ammar because it was this oven baked very dry rice with a very crusty top & bottom.

I am not saying that I hated it; it’s just that when I grew up & tasted the real Roz M3ammar in a friend’s gathering; I realized that our version has nothing to do with the original recipe.

As I am having my baby girl literally pressing every single key on my laptop as I am typing & my son trying to open my screen all the way back; splitting my whole laptop in half so this will be a short post!

I am not & will never be one of those healthy people obsessed about quinoa & oats but finding healthier alternatives that still taste delicious for the food I love is something I am always in search for.

HOMEMADE GRANOLA

Don’t make fun of me, Ok?

The first time I watched someone making granola on Food Network was many years back. I watched & thought what the hell is that? First, what’s oats (yes I didn’t know) & why is it mixed with all those things & baked? Then topped on yoghurt? And called granola?! God what on earth is that?

I decided to give it a try … Out of curiosity!

I searched & searched for this so called oats (as it wasn’t widely available by then like now) until I found it. I went home, followed the recipe instructions & BOOM I burnt it.

The whole house smelled smoke for about a day!

I decided … No more this granola thing & I don’t even want to know how it tastes like! The box of oats stayed in my pantry until it got expired & was thrown in the trash.
